About Graphs & Statistics

New Media Trend Watch gives you the opportunity you to create graphs comparing some of the statistics it publishes.

You can make graphs to compare historical trends and forecasts for:

People online in tourism markets (000's)
People online in tourism markets (%'s)
Tourism in Europe - Total foreign and domestic (%'s per year)

How to use this tool

  1. Select the data that you would like to include in your graph and click on 'generate statistics'.
  2. New Media Trend Watch then generates an initial graph.
  3. You may then edit or refine the graph, using the options listed in the sub-navigation bar:
Orientation vertical or horizontal
View for the presentation of the graph: stacked, 100% stacked, clustered
Show as you choose whether to show the results in numbers or percentages
Start year/date of the first statistics in your chart
End year/date of the final statistics in your chart
Type what sort of graph/presentation would you prefer? A bar chart, line graph, pie chart, or just a table? [Use the table to show actual numbers for the countries or other criteria that you have chosen.]

4. The drop-down menu at the top of the page allows you to change the topic of the graph.

5. You may also export your graph as an image or simply print it out. See the link at the bottom of the graph.

Useful tips

To obtain the most effective comparisons, you should create separate graphs for groups of larger countries and groups of smaller countries.

Historical trend graphs should be used only for short-term forecasts as they show a line of best fit which is calculated using historical data and will not be reliable for longer-term predictions.
